Five Point Plan: Today

Five Point Plan for Today:

1. Take a walk outside - it's nice out today
2. Get some ice cream in your system - I suggest Lics off memorial drive
3. Take a nice long nap - gear up for the weekend
4. Take another nap - it's been a long summer you need your rest
5. Discover Billy Joel

Something's New

I've decided to add a couple things to the blog.

For starters I think Ill add a daily, weekly, and monthly five point plan. Which will serve the purpose of suggesting something to do or achieve during the day, week or month. The daily one will be good for me cause it'll give me a reason to blog everyday.

Secondly I will add a side bar to some of my entries to just fill you in on my mood and current happenings in my life. Just as a small journalesque kind of entry. I usually like to start my entries with quotes (it was supposed to be a gimmick, but I decided to not do it on every post) so sometimes the side bar will just be a quote.

Just thought I'd let you guys know.

Left Foot....Right Foot....Left Foot...

'Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?''

That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,' said the Cat.

'I don't much care where --' said Alice.

'Then it doesn't matter which way you go,' said the Cat.

'--so long as I get somewhere,' Alice added as an explanation.

'Oh, you're sure to do that,' said the Cat, 'if you only walk long enough.'

You never really need to know where you're going. As long as you end up somewhere. I suppose it's especially needless to think about you're destination when you either:

A) Don't care where you end up

or

B) Have no idea where exactly you're headed

Is it safe to assume that the majority - if not all - of us really have no real destination ahead? I mean there are only two certainties in life one of them is the final destination, death. The other certainty is uncertainty, if you expect anything in life then expect to be surprised. Expect the unexpected.

No one knows where they'll end up; besides in a grave. So if you find life passing you by with no real place to end up, you might as well enjoy the sights and enjoy the ride. Or you know, you could always just stop to smell the roses.

Puke: Nike Quilted Patent Pack

Yikes, a little too much on the patent leather here it's a little too shiny for my tastes. Wow Nike is sure coming out with a lot of Olympic packs, and most of them are done in poor taste. Stay tuned for more on those packs later. But seriously all they're trying to do is capitalize on the buzz the Olympics are generating and I know there are hypebeasts out there eating it all up. I guess the only positive is that these shoes are quilted....which makes them more absorbent than the leading kitten brand! (Knawmeen? Probably not)

If You're Not First, You're Last

Numero Uno, the winner. If you ain't first then you're last baby! You were a winner once. You we're first once before. You beat millions and millions of other sperm cells to be the person you are today. So wasn't that enough? Why is it nowadays first is never good enough. I remember the good old days when everyone wanted to be first the first to do this. The first to wear this. They wanted to set the trend. Now setting trends aren't good enough, it is no longer satisfying to say that you were the leader and the rest followed. We've moved on from being the first to being the only.

How many times do you hear people say it? "Maaaaaan I used to do that, until everyone else started it." Get over your uppity self, you didn't start it and you're sure as hell not going to be the only one to do it. If there's anything worse than wannabes then it is the Havtobe's. New restaurant in town? They have to be first. New clothing store? They have to be the first to shop there. New movie showing? They have to be the first to see it. Then as soon as they are done with it, it's a thing of the past. It's all in the past, it becomes so yesterday.

As soon as a have to be is through with supposedly starting a (non-trend) trend they move on to the next thing to satisfy them. With claims that what they allegedly started is no longer cool because other people are doing it. It's so chic nowadays to be you're own individualistic and ideal self; which you need to remaster every time someone else becomes remotely like you. We've taken expression of self past it's logical state and turned it into a contest. Who can be the most different for the longest? Forget finding your bliss and being someone you love to be. Be different, be different all the time. Don't be who you were yesterday, cause seriously...that's so yesterday.

Well now I dare to be different, by being me, and I am not going to change. How ironic the world has become, in order to be different....you just have to be the same. It's a sad social commentary on the downward spiral society is facing.

Another life lesson brought to you by the good folks here at the FPOE

Last Week I had the Strangest dream...

Where everything was exactly how it seemed.
Where there was never any mystery.....

All was well, things were known. Happiness was to be found.
It was all a dream (I used to read word up magazine)
Where has it all gone.

I thought you'd be happy.
I thought you'd be the first to say I told you so.
I thought you'd let change happen.
I thought you'd learn to deal.
I thought you'd know I'd never let it drive us apart.

I dreampt your dream, but now that dream is gone from me.

I didn't think you be against this.
I didn't think we'd drift this far apar.
I didn't think you'd let me out so easily.
I didn't think we'd be here right now.
I didn't think you'd go through this alone.
I didn't think we'd let it die before either of us do.

Notable Blog

I stumbled upon another notable blog today. One that I find interesting to read. One which the name is catchy enough to remember and spell. But I don't think it was worthy to be put on the "My Blog list" but either way here it is

http://ouropinionsmatter.blogspot.com

It's funny to read, a lot of it is sports related. And if you know me, you know I love sports.

An FPOE's Movie

Sometimes watching a movie on the big screen becomes more than watching a movie. Just like sometimes a TV show is more than a TV show. Sometimes getting lost in a story is not about the story itself but the characters within the story. How many times do you find yourself watching a movie or TV show and think to yourself; "Damn that guy is cool." That's when you know the movie you're watching or the show you're watching is something worth watching. I remember the first time I saw "Lucky Number Slevin" Josh Hartnett played the title character and he brought something to the character which transcended the big screen and spilt over into the audience. Slevin was a kind of don't give a f*ck, mad clever witty guy. He was funny and charismatic and there was just something about him that drew you to the character. I love movies when I walk out feeling cool as a mutha. It's almost like you feel invincible coming out of a movie. And that's what the experience should be like. When you go into a movie and walk out feelin yourself, well that's just gravy.

Fuck This Shit Right Now...I'm Checking out

"Tell my Ex-Girlfriend I'm trying, and her new boyfriend I'd fight him.
And what about my cousins? Tell them that I love them."

--N.E.R.D - Jump

I just gotta air it out:

--Tell her I'm scared for her, and to see the face she gave me with the news she did broke my heart.

--Tell her I am afraid for her position, but I'll always understand and be there for her; and that I am worried about her sister.

--Tell her that I understand more now what you are going through, and I am starting to see what you mean. But I can't stop what's happening and I know deep down you don't want me to stop.

--Tell him that I am sorry that there is huge tension between them too. I can't help but feel I am the source of that tension. And that I would never do anything to jeopordize any of our friendships.

--Tell them, I am sorry I can't be around more often. It just has to be like this for a while.

--Tell her she is still my favorite, even if she never has any money.

--Tell her to get over herself. And that what happend and what she did is bullshit.

--Tell my Mother, well she already knows.

--Tell her, that even though she is the youngest and that she will always be the baby, she should stilll learn to be strong and independant.

Just thought you should all know.

NIKE Tailwind 92 Limited Edition

Woooo hoooo the Nike Tailwind is being re-released. Now the shoe is very clean and the colorway is rahter simple. A white and red upper with a yellow swoosh. But what is great about this shoe is the history it made when it was first released. In case you lived under a rock allow me to elaborate. I can do it in one sentence - the power of words. The Nike Tailwind was the first shoe to ever -wait for it - have NIKE AIR in the sole. It revolutionized running technology.

Nike AM 1 Perforated Metallic Leather Pack

PUKE! I seriously think the perforated leather is cool but the metallic leather is way OTT. I mean sure it's for the olympics but hasn't metallic leather already been done? I remember seeing those Metallic Gold Puma Speedcats one year, a friend of mine actually copped em. She had a matching jacket for em.

This is getting ridiculous.

G. House MD

Because you need hard liquor to take his tough medicine

FPOE #4

Watch the show you'll understand, someone once told me that his personality is similar to mine. I told that person I was flattered. He's a conundrum. He's a total jerk, but a nice guy. He acts like he doesn't care yet somehow you just know he does. He's bitter and introverted and takes drugs to forget his pain. But he's a brillian genius and truly himself.

This Song Has Been on Bump

Fresh to def she is
From her steps to the set she is
Fresh uh huh, yes she is
Had a feelin that is would be a day like this
The orchestra in my mind dont play like this -- Naw

I'm calm
A lil more confident
And then we lose consciousness
She says "that I've been waitin for you"
And I know you been chasin me too
I been thinkin of you

You're my sunshine (you're my sunshine)
You're my moonlight (you're my moonlight)
Your the starry skies above me wont you please come down and hug me
Cause I found love in this girl tonight (Wowowowo)

Nike Dunk Hi Pro SB - Marge Simpsons

Definately worth a look. A possible must cop for now; if you do come across it jump on it. This is an Asia/Pacific exclusive release as of right now. No real word on it's release here in NA. So keep your fingers crossed.

I am definately feeling the blue and green. Although all this thrown together is not ver easy on the eyes. It's very loud and in your face, but all in al not a bad shoe; especially if you're a fan of the show. This is something you can look at and definately see the Marge inspiration.

The Nike Dunk Low - Homer Simpsons

A lot simpler by way of design and color, personally like this better than the Marge. But the "Homers" aren't as distinguishable as his better half.

Francis Has Feelings

I stumbled upon this very interesting blog about a very courageous young man. It's a little bit heartbreaking but also very inspiring.

http://krentzkrew.blogspot.com

The blog is also linked on my blog lists. It is about a boy named Luke who has RSV and FTT and is in and out of the hospital quite often. I guess his parents are documenting his recovery and growth. It's very interesting and very much a great source of hope.

I know some of you may get upset about parents "exploiting" their child like this. But try to see of as a way of a family sharing a miracle with the rest of the world. Cause that's really what it is.

Just So You Know...

What the fuck does it even mean to be a Fresh Prince of Everywhere? Am I the Fresh Prince of Everywhere? I know what you're thinking, where does he get off saying that he is the Fresh Prince of everywhere.

In fact, when I started this blog and this name came to mind I thought not of myself, but of everyone and everything who influences me as well as shares or understands my influences. A Fresh Prince of everyhwere is exactly that. A "Fresh Prince" from anywhere and all over the world.

This goes out to anyone and everyone anywhere. If you stand up for what you believe in. If you dare to be different. If you don't give a shit about the public persona of who you are. If you are unapologetically you. Then this is for you. That's all there is too it.

A Fresh Prince of Everywhere, it's not hard to be. Love yourself unconditionally and be whoever it is you want to be regardless of the stigma and consequences. Now take that in stride, I'm not saying just be you and close yourself to change. Sometimes change can be a good thing. I mean as long as change is reasonable and you're willing to do it; then it can't be that bad. I mean if you're a total asshole (like me) and someone asks you to tone it down...do you do it? Personally if I cared enough about the person I would. But the reality of it is, if you can't take me for who I am then you can stop that noise right quick.

So I haven't claimed the title of the Fresh Prince of Everywhere. It's more of a concept I would like to share with you all. So no matter where you are, as long as you can do you, you're an FPOE in my book.

DO YOU

I Never knew

A love like this before.....

It's just that when you see her you know. The way she looks, hooks, and reels you in. Sometimes it's impossible to get your hands on her. But you know as soon as you get a chance you'll pounce, cause it may be your only chance. As soon as you're together though that's when thing get a little heavy. When you get her all alone you have your way with her. You smell her, and hold her and you feel her. You may even lay a little kiss. I know some cats would even go as far as lick her. But then you begin to "undress" her. Then you feel your way inside and realize, that without you inside she won't be the same. You do her up the way you want. She's yours to make your own. And you love the way she feels wrapped around you. You want to show her off but at the same time keep her to yourself. You fear of one day losing her or ruining her so you might wanna keep her iced. You always have her lookin good and rollin like she should, and anything you can get to keep her pretty you'll be sure to cop. She's just one of those things, that you see, and you know you have to her. Cause with you no harm will come her way, nothing bad could ever happen. It's love. Love that you never knew possible.

Learn To Walk

Seriously, I know how douchebaggery it sounds when I say it but I mean come one; when you feel like a million bucks you unknowingly show off. But really when I feel good my walk is certainly distinguished. It is in fact a noticeable difference from when I feel indifferent or upset. If you feel confident, and on a particular day feel more sure about yourself than on other days; don't be afraid to show it.

LEARN TO WALK

really that's the new thing. Now there are ways to walk around like you're all that without coming off like

1. A douchebag
2. Like you all that and then some (bitch please!)

A great example of someone who has a "U can't touch this" kind of walk is Weezy, I hate the dude but his swagger is undeinably. But you could argue he's a number 2. He walks like he's a little bit too sure of himself.

And ideal walk...well that's easy. Dion Phaneuf. And do enjoy the John Travolta as well.

Observe:

So go ahead strut your stuff. You feel good about yourself? Don't tell us, show us.

An Interesting Room...

Every Gen X kids wet dream. Anyone who remembers the 80's and 90's would love to have a room just like it. The precedent is a Antoinette J. Citizen's original concept, for her "landscapes" show.

What I want to Be

You see things; and you say, "Why?"
But I dream things that never were; and I say, "Why not?"

--George Bernard Shaw

I used to dream. There are things I dream of being, things I strive to be. Things i've lose sight of becoming. Dreams that I forgot to hold fast to and they slip through my fingers. I wanted to be as uncompromising as Cyrano de Bergerac. The man who taught me to be myself in the face of my harshest critics. I wanted to be like Lloyd Dobler. Who again was only himself but still able to get the girl. The girl no one ever thought he'd end up with. I dreampt of being in the NBA. The childlike innocence I once approached basketball with is lost to me. But I still play because I still love it. I once dreampt of big things when I was little. Growing up people have tried to belittle those dreams. They almost succeeded. Then through the movies and books and music that has graced my ears and eyes I learnt something. I learnt something about myself. And they say that TV turns your brain to mush.

I still dream. I dream to one day look back and say that I lived how I wanted to live. I dream that one day Ill get the girl. I am loves biggest cynic, but in my hypocrisy want to believe in it. I am the biggest antagonist to both marriage and all that is everlasting; so it's a tough dream to achieve. But hey no one's gonna dream for me, and since I'm gonna have to do it on my own; I might as well dream big.

Say Anything

Always Find the Silver Lining

Atarexia

The only true happiness possible for a person. It signifies the detached and balanced state of mind that shows that a person has transcended the material world and is now harvesting all the comforts of philosophy.

According to the movie "Lucky Number Slevin" my number one all time favorite. Atarexia is a disorder characterized by the inability to worry. No precursor to thought or worry. Now as we all know, there is never any thought to what I say, and most times do. I lack the proper buffer between my mouth and my brain.

Atarexia though is something I have thought to be as a blessing. Based solely on my knowledge of it being a medical condition according to Slevin. However upon hearing the Epicurean interpretation of it being the detached state of mind that transcends materialistic necessity I strive towards it even more now.

It flows with the message I try to convey to anyone who stumbles upon this blog. To be without thought or attention to what others believe you should or shouldn't be like. To not have to worry about how people see you, or how you look. To me to be Atarexic is to be yourself and love yourself exactly how you are.

Iconoclasts

I once entered a spelling bee, and the first word I got was style....and so I spelt it:

A-T-T-I-T-U-D-E

Yepp, that's what passes as style nowadays. Swagger, steez, the way you see yourself through the eyes of the world. Your looking glass self. What you wear is only a small part of style, but a part of it nonetheless. So now, I present to you, the most stylish guys I know. Both living and dead, real and fictitious. If style is attitude then these three have it.

So then without further adieu, I give to you. The orinigal inductees, the highly heralded, the revered - Fresh Princes of Everyhwere:

Lupe Fiasco

What makes Lupe Fiasco a Fresh Prince of Everywhere? Thing is, where do I begin. Not only did "The Cool" go gold. Not only does his critical acclaim match his commercials success. Not only did Sean Carter refer to him as "A breath of fresh air." Not only does he run First and Fifteenth records. Not only does he head Righteous Kung Fu/ Trilly and Truly/ Fall of Rome. What really makes him an FPOE is the swagger and attitude he brings to the table. You hear people claiming to make being a loser cool. Well Lupe Fiasco really does that, video games are cool, nerdy glasses are cool, japanese manga. He brought it all back to the mainstream, and he did it with panache. It was done with a total disregard of public opinion, the only one that mattered was his own.

Barney Stinson

Now, just because he's not a real person doesn't mean he doesn't bring anything legitimate to the table. I know how some people feel about womanizers, but Barney Stinson is a different breed. Actually he might be the stereotypical womanizer. I find most mysoginists have their feelings deeply rooted within the pain of a broken heart. And such is the case of Barney Stinson; whom before becoming a suited beacon of awesome was a hippy humanitarian. I digress, what makes Barney so special is the way he holds himself together. He is the epitome of persistence and rejection has never once hindered him. On top of that you never see him sweat, unless a slap is about to occur, however even then you never see his suits wear him. He wears his clothes and it's never the other way around.

Kanye Omari West

Now there is one reason and one reason only Kanye is a part of this select group of individuals. It isn't because the way he dresses. Nor is it the Lv and Gucci and Hermes or the Marc Jacobs or the Chanel or the YSL or the BAPE. No. If there is one reason I respect Kanye west it's because of his attitude. Now you can hate him or love him for it. But think about it, even with all those people who hate his attitude to go on being the way he is without compromise? Now that is style. That merits a gold star. If you can believe what you believe in when you're the only one who believes it, well my hats off to you.

Be avant-guard in your actions and laissez-faire with your attitude.
I give to you, your 2008 inductees to the Wall of Fresh.

That's Ass Backwards

Raindrops keep fallin' on my head
And just like the guy whose feet are too big for his bed
Nothin' seems to fit
Those raindrops are fallin' on my head, they keep fallin'

I'm really just waiting for everything to snap back into place. I'm in my happy place, I just wish you'd follow suite.

I Need A New Outlet

An idle mind is the devils workshop. When I sit alone with nothing to do, Lucifer (don of the morning) peeks his ugly face in my life. Although he doesn't manifest himself into a physical form; no his appearances torment me in worse ways then seeing evil itself. His manifestation forms within me, in my head, my thoughts are nothing short of sinister. I can't help it anymore, without an angelic presence or divine intervention my psyche only allows me to feel what I feel. The despair and sadness brought upon don't equal to half the pain that rejection has bestowed upon me. The thoughts are demonic and have taken name and form. But no longer will I be a prison to these feelings. I keep myself busy now, with distraction as my savior. It's a second coming of sorts, an epiphany, a revelation, realization has come over me.

Keep busy, don't think about it. Don't think about it you won't be hurt by it. It's a wound that was long healed, the pain that emanates from it currently is pure psychological.

I kept busy, so last night I re-arranged my room. It's dope!

Pastelle: A rare glimpse

In case you never knew about Pastelle, Kanye West's joint venture clothing line with Kim Jones who is helping him with the designs. Truthfully I like the sweater, it is very space aged. But what I like about it is that it is a full zip that has an urban appeal to it. It's something you feel that you can just as easily dress up while mainting a casual feel. But what I don't like it is that it is a full zip, everyone needs a nice full zip (the way the hood hangs on a full zip is a look you can't get with regular hoodies) but there's just too many. It's becoming the in thing to do, and nobody wants to be in anymore.

*Note: The contrast in colors, the white and grays, and the splash of color in the hood. As well as the different materials used in the composition. It's a treat for the eyes as well as the hands.

My Apologies - Not Really

So as I was writing a previous post I got very particular about diction and the tone conveyed. I tried not to come off as arrogant and cocky. I did my best to avoid a Bitch Please type of reaction. But then I realized you know what, I don't even really care. I talk how I want to talk in real life and if this blog is supposed to be an extension of that. And if I come off as cocky while I write this blog then that's just how I come across. I think that's still a matter of opinion though.

If you don't like the way I talk, the way I write, or my attitude, you can

That about sums it up. Because if you don't like me being me then that is just too damn bad. I am not sorry. Well I am sorry, I'm sorry you can't look past the surface. I can only be me, and that is who I unapologetically, and uncompromisingly am. But if you read something here, and take offense to a joke, dislike a comment made or just are not feeling my attitude then...

Fuck you.

Nike SB: Randy Colvin

The only Dunk SB worth even thinking about copping this month. The Nike Dunk Low Pro SB "Randy Colvin". For those who don't know he is an ex pro skateboarder...nuff sed. The Black and Yellow ochre colorway is nice and simple, keeps things clean and crisp. Can't ask much more for this show, it's got a classic feel to it with a bit of "hypebeast" twist. Would be a nice pick, but definately not a must cop.

PUKE!: John Maeda x Reebok "Struccess" Instapump Fury

Now this is an instance where less could have been more. Too much color. It's a little too involved. I mean I love the loud colorways just as much as the next guy, but where do we draw the line? Enough is enough. The material on the sole makes it look like its plastic rather than foam. It's like Nike Presto's meets Insta Pump fury gone wrong.
