In The Spirit of Plaid

And of course what's an update without including my new favorite textile print....plaid. Well not new favorite but ya'know.

The red and white seems very "Arab" print and picnic blanket to me, but still very nice. And right now black and white plaid is just rubbing me in all the right ways.

Scarves courtesy of Pure Blue Japan available at Kiosk78

The Varsity Jacket

The Varsity jacket is now starting to make it's rounds. I've wanted one since I saw Lupe rocking one so nicely in the now infamous and much debated Chester French video (He's joking people!). This lovely piece is courtesy of Whyred Harvey, and the brown cuffs and brown button covers give this jacket a nice refined feel.

You can rock it with a tee. Or a simple shirt tie combination. Might I suggest a shade of blue with an equally neutral tie. Navy would be nice if you were going for a monochromatic look as seen here.

A Christmas To Be Remembered...

I got a very special gift from a very special person this Christmas. And I can't share the gift she gives me everyday I can show you what she got me to comemorate such a festive occassion. I've had some nice memorable gifts in the past. The thing about me and things I like is I forget, no matter how much I loved that particular thing, that I like it (so much). This year was no exception.

If you go back to September of 08 and recap the TRE AD McFly post I put up and you can speculate from the entry how much I liked the shoe. But the school started to come at me and I kinda put that on the back burner and soon forgot about them....

.....but This Christmas, I got a special treat.

Oh ya....I got NIKE SB Socks too...hahaah! ALRIGHT!

Brooklyn Girls!

Oooh shit the Vid for Brooklyn Girls is out. Song was featured on HBO hit show Entourage, you may remember that. I know that I sure do.

If you're wondering why this rapper calls himself by his real name and not by a moniker it's simple. He just got sick of name dropping a name that wasn't his. He used to use rap names, but he's a lot more comfortable with his real name.

And if you haven't yet gotten Mick Boogie's Leaders of the new cool I suggest you go and DL it.

Oh and this song features Apl and Will

Sooner Or Later....

Songs Hype and this vid just seems so fitting with the economy right now. Back when the song was recorded things weren't as dire as they are now; it's funny how it all came together in the end.

This Christmas

Hang all the mistletoe

.....Presents and cards are here
My world is filled with cheer and you, ohh yeah
This Christmas And as I look around
Your eyes outshine the town, they do

Blast From The Past (Summer)

I said it back in the summer, I was feelin' plaid and that shit was gonna make a comeback. And it would be twice as Al Borland hosting Family Feud. Ch ch check it ouuuuuut:

Orisue's Fall/Winter offering, and if you look closely at whose modeling the clothes you'll notice that they are none other than Y-O and Thurz, breakout rap duo U-N-I you may recall their underground hit K.R.E.A.M. Look for them to be making more noise in 09.

Y-O in a teal and red long sleeve. This works for me cause it's easy on the eyes and the already subtle vibrancy of the shirt is played down by the jacket. It's a great shirt to pair with and earth tone.

Thurz and Y-O, Thurz is fresh with his jacket on, the shirt brings all the attention inside. And I'm really feeling the cut on Y-O's jacket. Orisue is the bomb shit

Something totally fresh. Plaid is so a la mode right now so why not do something different with it? A hooded button up. Not exactly groundbreaking, we have seen it done in the past, but never executed so wonderfully. At least in this picture it looks great.

Again, that coat is off the chain. This fall stay away from the black and Navy, yes those look very classic, but chances are you've already got a coat in either black or Navy. Do something different like a grey, or if you're bold enough....brown. For some reason brown and winter never worked with me, but hey if you can do it; then why the fuck not?

Soundtrack Your Day

I love waking up in the morning to the tune of Lupe Fiasco ringing in my ear. I currently have Daydreamin' set as my morning alarm and it goes off telling me that it is time to start my day.

Starting your day off right is crucial to having a good day. Kind of tautological isn't it? If you want to have a good day have a good morning. HAHA.

I recently have discovered that listening to some music in the morning just brightens me right up. If ever I take public transit the commute seems to be less disagreeable when I have something on bump. Even if it's a sad song.

As long as I walk along with some tunes in my ears I feel like a million bucks. So I dare you to try it, I dare you to make a soundtrack of how you want your day to go. There's just something so intoxicating about music in your ears that can really get you high on life. Give it a shot, but seriously I already expect most of you guys already do this, and know what I am talking about.

In Case you Haven't Heard

I'm a little late on this one I know but in case you haven't heard Lupe Fiasco is in fact retiring. The last album as you all know is called L-U-P E.N.D.

But what was recently announced that E.N.D stands for Everywhere, Nowhere, Down There. And will be a 3 disc album.

Now that's how you go out.

Market Supply and Market Demand

Market Equilibrium: The point at which Market Supply is equal to Market demand.

that simple concept determines the supply is willing to ensure at a price that is optimal to them.

I buy cans of pop on the regular here on campus because I'm an addict. I usually buy from this little viet place on campus and it's so funny how often they change their price on me.

I've gone 3 times and so far I've paid three different price:

1.50
1.10
1.25

I just think it's funny this lack of consistency.

Barney New York x Alife

I would admit to being a fan of the Everybody Highs. As well as to Barney's New York. My tastes very and are often found on opposite ends of the spectrum.

So to Hear about this Orange pack coming from Alife and Barney's was quite the shocker. And these shoes are quite appealing.

I could describe it in one word and that word would be creamy. The off white is a nice elegant touch to compliment a soft but vibrant orange.

Available now at Barney's locations and on their online store

The Microwave

You know what I hate?

I HATE MICROWAVES! Sure they're handy and convenient but they're so damn inefficient.

The Microwave was the Devils gift to man. One hot day in hell Satan got bored and decided that he was he was going to give a us a present. The gift of reheating food, using radiation. I mean that in itself should have deterred humanity. But I digress.

The Microwave sucks because it doesn't ever work properly! How many times have you put food in the microwave and it comes out STILL cold. Or worse yet, you'll put it in and it comes out nice and hot, or so it seems; Parts are deadly hot and other parts are frighteningly cold. There is no consistency, and let's not even get started about what happens to the inside of the food. The outside get's deliciously hot and then the inside is disappointingly cold. Microwaves are stupid and I can only wish we had a more efficient way of warming up food.

I HATE MICROWAVES!

GLC - I Ain't Even On Yet

Make Use of Your Appendix

For some reason right now I find myself in love with eating meat. Well I've always loved a good steak but I find now that I'm eating my steaks and cuts of beef more and more rare. I'm actually thinking of getting one cooked blue rare the next time I go grab a steak. I just love tender juicy bloody meat. Like our caveman ancestors ate it back before fire.

I'm putting my appendix back into fold of things. What's the point of having the organ that doesn't do anything? sure we don't know what it was meant to do but it is assumed that it was for consumption of raw meat, but since we cook our food now we've evolved to no longer need it. Kind of like our littlest toe....unless you eat with your feet.

Maybe I'm a vampire

Off My Game

I come to school expecting to get some work done in the realm of Economics 301. Advanced Microeconomics. But as soon as I get in and log into my online assignment I realized that there was no assignment due today. It's for next saturday the 18th. Hey I can't complain about that.

It just means now I have to get cracking on my Advanced MACROeconomics assignment and my Urban Studies mid term, both for Tuesday.

Yet with all this extra time I know find myself online blogging haha. Geez!

I like you cause you shared your chips with me!

How To Feel Like A Girl

I feel like a girl it's gotten so bad.

the countless :
Shirts
Jeans
Shoes
Jackets
Sweaters

What to wear in the morning? Should I change before I go out?

It isn't unhealthy to love clothes this much. But sometimes I just feel ridiculous!

The Safety Net

Sometimes you just jump.

Hope the landing is soft, or something breaks your fall.

You put yourself out there and take the risks you normally wouldn't take. Say things you wouldn't normally say; do things you normally wouldn't do.

Sometimes you jump.

Because you want to know. You might as well. You have nothing to lose.

Sometimes you jump.

And you realize you shouldn't have. The landing crushes you.

Maybe you shouldn't have jumped after all.

At least I know when I jump. I got a safety net to catch me this time around. The risks are still there, but at least this time around I got a net to catch me in case I fall.

Beware of Forever

E-V-E-R

That's a statement in itself. Ever, it was the best movie EVER! Meaning there was none better, it's top tier, cream of the crop. It may seem harmless on the surface but with the word ever comes an underlying sense of eternity. Now if we add an N we get never. Which is just another way of saying eternity. I'll NEVER talk to you again! I'll NEVER eat chocolate again! I'll NEVER do this/that! You get the point. Ever is pretty powerful in itself, and Never is right up there. But if you add an F and an O and an R. You get one of the most quizzical words in the English dictionary, FOREVER!

Now I know what your thinking what is so bewildering about the word forever? Well for starters what can really last forever? What really does endure all of time. I heard that on a long enough time line the survival for everything drops down to zero. Which is a conundrum within itself because this time line has to go one forever. People don't live forever, it was God's intention for eternal life but Eve fucked it up for the rest of us. Which just goes to show the weakness' we all have. Women may be easily convinced but men are unknowingly easily tempted. I know I'm a sucker for a pretty girl with an apple, especially if she's naked!

I to an extent can be quite hesitant to think about forever. Because forever is trilly and truly quite the conundrum. You can't possibly find out if something lasts forever becuase forever never comes. Forever NEVER EVER comes. Maybe the beauty in forever is that it is fleeting. Why look forward to something that never comes?

I would never say forever, because I just didn't believe there was anything everlasting. Nothing could possibly beat time; nothing could be that strong. I didn't like to think of forever because once you get caught up in it you get distracted. Forever detracts from the now. You think about the future long enough you forget to appreciate what you have in the present. If you live in the future you don't appreciate the gift of the present. About a week ago I would have told you that forever doesn't exist, but maybe I'm wrong. Maybe something is out there that could prove me wrong, I'm not entirely convinced, but I'm more open to it, and hoping to have been wrong about it.

Just remember.

Today, is the Tomorrow you worried about Yesterday.

Hot Pants - The Ressurection

Make fun all you want but the skinny jean is back for guys! Hot Pants or not this just proves that this FPOE was just ahead of his time. Call em nut huggers if you jealous misers want. But they're not seen on the likes of Weezy, Skateboard P and Mikey Rocks. So It's time to dust mine off and wear em again.

Living The Star Wars!

I present to you the Boba Fett's. Now you can't seriously be reading my blog and asking yourself who Boba Fett is. Cause if you must ask then you my friend are one of the sad few in this world who do not realize how sad they are. There's 2 kinds of people on this planet, those who have seen Star Wars and those who haven't. It is a travesty and a sin to not have ever seen Star Wars, there is only one valid excuse to not ever see Star Wars. And that is because you were in Star Wars, YOU ACTUALLY LIVED THE STAR WARS! So if you were not in Star Wars and do not Know who the Bounty Hunter Boba Fett is, I can only shake my head in extreme dissapointment.

I digress, back to the shoe. Like all things I like it's crisp and clean, the upper however reminds me of the SBTG dunks released years prior. However with this I just feel like I have seen it all before. The thing I find most dissapointing about these are that the colorway has nothing to to really do with Boba Fett. At least not in my eyes.

You have been enlightened. Oh and also seems like Nike is just giving out exclusive shoes nowadays. Seems like all you gotta do to get a shoe is either Deliver Han Solo to Jabba or Go back in time and make your parents fall in love.
.....

Sidebar: Forgive me for these pretty half assed entries. I'm right now in my campus office studying. Just thought I'd deliver on the updates I promised. Bear with me for just a bit longer I have an actual post in the works. One from the heart. Keep it locked. Same Fresh Time, Same Fresh Channel.

To Tide you Over

Since there's no word on the yeezy's and the McFly's are still a few wet dreams away Nike SB is gonna drop a McFly inspired Tre AD SB. I'm really feeling em, and I totally dig the Tre AD line.

Classic, simple and crisp. And as a bonus it glows in the dark. How can you go wrong. Set to drop during the holidays. If anyone in the FPOE fam is reading this....it would make a great stocking stuffer.

Banksy Strikes!

Well, as some of you may know I am a fan of Bansky art work. There's just something about his work that I find so evocative.

Pictured here is his latest piece done in SOHO, a three story masterpiece which you can use your own feelings to interpret it how you wish.

For those who don't know Bansky is a graffiti artist who hails from England where he exhibits his work both in forms of art shows in set venues and just on the streets. He has published books devoted to showcasing his art. He has even done some interviews and has a manifesto available on his website (Oh Ya, he has a website too). To top it all off though the man live in anonimity. No one knows who he is, know one knows how he really sounds. The only one's who do know won't tell. Well I guess when you're art speaks the way his does it's best not to attach a face to the work done. Being anonymous probably also benefits him considering there are multiple warrants out for his arrest.

Nike SB x Stash Snowboarding Boot

Pictures courtesy of Sneaker Files

Snowboarding is probably the only reason why I tolerate winter. Everyone knows I hate it. But this is one of the reasons why I'm looking forward to this year. With the season approaching pretty quick, with my two year old beat up gear, and with growing black diamond experience under my belt (thanks to Hammertime, haha!), I think it's time for an upgrade.

Being a huge Nike head, refusing to rock anything else on my feet, seeing Nike Snowboarding boots is like seeing Christmas morning! This premier boot, with a collaboration with Stash, is inspired by the Stash AF1 with an all-over spray can pattern, full upper support, strap and the AF1 reminiscent design. Open lace loops at the top for easy access and a scoop of Zoom Air top this boot off as one of the most sought after pieces on my 'cop-list' for the remainder of this year. Buy it now at Blades West in NYC.

Unreal Un-Supreme

Nike, as of late, has been a complete whore with colorways on Jordan Fusions, Dunks, AM90s, and Air Force 1s. So why not complete a line of Zoom Paul Rodriguez IIs in every single colorway possible?! But along the way, the 'whoring' opened doors to colorways like these.

NikeSB.org and Nice Kicks provided us with a sneak peak of the next P-Rod II release for 2009. This colorway, remeniscent of the 'Supreme' Dunk Low (hence, the the unofficial nickname "Unsupreme"), will sport the all white leather, subtle royal blue insole, comfy sock liner and tongue logo and the ever-so popular 'elephant print' in cement grey. The P-Rod II "Unsupreme" will definitely give SB heads, as well as sneaker heads in general, something to look forward to next year.

Don't be so racist

Converse Centrury Product

The One Star and Poor Man Hi. I've never been one for black shoes, but lately I've been feelin' em. It's kinda crazy...like you wake up one morning and then bam all of a sudden you like different things. Like the things you used to like are still there and you still like it as much as ever, but somehow you just feel the need to broaden your horizons.

On the for real, The Poor Man Hi's I been feelin' for a minute now and at 150 USD I may have to cop a pair.

Try it. Apparently black is the new black.

Sexy Can I....

NewY-3 fall/winter items. I can't say how much I love them. As you guys know I am feeling neutrals right now with a splash of something. Here is the true genius of Yohji Yamamoto, the dual hood is something new, but with use of 2 different materials in it brings attention to it without changing the color. The lustre of the material and the obvious change in fabric just draws you into it. And my gosh is it ever sexy.

Sadly it's Y-3 so expect pieces to be as much as 1500$. It may be way of of our price ranges but it doesn't hurt to dream.

The Man's Tiffany Bracelet

Men don't wear bracelets.

Jam Home Made X Stussy have an equivalent though. I present to you, the wallet chain. Wearing your wallet outside of you jeans is becoming a thing lately and Stussy is looking to really capitalize on it. Truthfully it's a nice chain and I'm really liking the new trend of things dangling from your jeans. It's just fresh....for now.

Gentry's Frankenstein

WHY?

WHY?

WHY?

I honestly sat at my desk trying to come up with something to say about these shoes and I honestly can say that there are no words that describe what I am feeling towards Jordan Brand at this moment. This is one of the MANY reasons why my Jordan Brand purchases have dramatically decreased since the Dub-Zero.

The Prodigal Son

Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine. It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.

(Luke 15:32)

As most of you know this summer has been quite a roller coaster ride in the sense of finding myself Academically However I am here now to tell you even though it took me the better part of four months. I am completely set for the school year. At first I couldn't see myself coming back to the University for another second, this lead to thoughts of withdrawing and going to SAIT. The place I originally planned on attending prior to graduating from High School. As the months wore on I couldn't bring myself to making a schedule, transferring into Haskayne is quite possibly the most discouraging thing I ever had to go through. One night though I had a complete turn around, which was brought on by an epiphany which was the most enlightening part of summer. I realized my love for Economics and have thusly concentrated my new found passion in school in pursuit for a BA in Economics.

I don't know where it came from really and why I was so up and down about it all. I just couldn't bear to think about this Monday coming up and me working while I waited to start my program in January. I thought I hated the ICT building, Science Theaters, Mac Hall. I thought that deep down I resented each one of those buildings and rooms. Though the more I thought about it the more it dawned on me that those hall ways -as much as I disliked them- have grown to be a part of me. A part of me that I cannot let go of as easily as I thought. It took me from April 30th all the way until September 4th to completely my Fall08/Winter09 schedule but I did it. It's finally finished and I have a new found strength to push through and accomplish. I can tell you where this came from too. I couldn't bear to think that my friends will be going to school without me, the people that I grew close too attending the U. Or that Marloisasian will be finally coming to the U and I wouldn't be there to see it. I also couldn't bring myself to part ways without a degree -I hate to fail. What is so different now? There is one person, that I feel so compelled to show that I can acomplish this kind of thing. Although I realize that it doesn't matter to them it wouldn't make them feel different about me. But I just want to show everyone that I can and will do it, and I want to do it for me for her. If that makes any sense.

So even after being lost and away, and squandering my time and money away. I have returned and have been welcomed back with open arms. We killed the finest calf, opened the finest wine, called my best of friends and celebrated the return of the son who was once lost but is now found.

I'm Coming Home Again
--Christ Martin

Get Yourself A...

Down Vest.

It'll be your greatest fall investment believe me. You can dress it up or dress it down. It is the perfect thing to throw on when it's too cold for just a sweater but you don't wanna throw on a jacket cause it's too restricting or too hot. Look for it in classic neutral colors such as navy and black so you can wear it into the office with your business attire. Also don't limit yourself to the North Face Model shown here. Plenty of other designers are making them for this fall. Just be sure to get one that fits right. It should be snug around the chest (not constricting) and hit you at the waist.

My "Beginning Moments"

I was standing in my closet shuffling shoe boxes when I pulled out my Air Jordan Begnning Moments Pack. I started to think about what this package meant to Michael Jordan and then sort of wondered - "What if I had a Beginning Moments Pack?". Then I began to think a little deeper.

I've never wanted to grow up. I still don't. I'm stuck in the '90s. I loved the '90s - early, mid and late - whether it was TV, clothes, music, friends, hangouts, or various other forms of pop culture, it all started in the '90s and that's where my childhood really began. I was very fortunate to grow up in an era that sort of defined what we see today. It's always fun to look back once in awhile and remember the things we used to do, the clothes we used to wear, our friends who've come and gone, and the times when life was so carefree. These are my "Beginnning Moments".

This was released in 1984 and originally came in a blue/pink/gold metal container, and was given to me as a gift from my uncle when I was a new born. Now, if only they made these booties into sneakers in men's sizes. Haha.

My second pair would most definitely be the Air Jordan VII - white/black/cardinal red - Size 12C. This pair was the first Air Jordan I've ever owned and in that exact colorway and size. Not sure how I came about getting them, but I remember rocking these as 'inside shoes' in the second grade at Father Scollen Elementary.

DQM New Era Fitteds

More along the Al. Plaid is making it's way through more of the ranks. This next offering is courtesy of Dave's Quality meats set to drop Sept 12 at DQM stores. Unsure if it'll go to all other or even just select DQM contracts.

In Case of Emergency - Break Glass

We've all been there before. A Natural disaster is about to hit your city and you need to get the hell up outta there. Well the easiest way is by car, and it can actually be pretty lethal.

Have no fear the good people at Jalopnik have a guide to escaping a hurricane by car. Which I believe with a few minor adjustments would work under most circumstances.

Such as:
Alien Invasion
Mars Attacks
Godzilla/Cloverfield Monster

However do not, I repeat, DO NOT use this guide when trying to escape a Zombie infestation which threatens to spread globally.

Learn To Survive

The Elastic Band Theory

The Elastic Band Theory is simple really. Let's pretend you have an elastic band, one that is indestructible. It cannot be destroyed. And now let's say you have two movable objects on either end. On one end you have something called reality on the other end you have thoughts and beliefs.

Now imagine if you will a tug of war between the two ends. A constant struggle between your reality and your thoughts/beliefs. A tug of war between two wills.

If you have strong thoughts and beliefs, then your reality will be shaped by them. If your reality is stronger, it will shape your thoughts. Many people in the first group would be called leaders, who shape their life based on their dreams and vision, and move boldly forward. The other group would be those who are victims of their circumstances. They never seem to be able to make a success as much as they would like.

Strong thoughts lead to a more in line reality, weak will and thoughts lead to your reality shaping you.

"But my most coveted thing is the high self-esteem
and a low tolerance for them tellin me how to lean
see the most important parts are the one's that are unseen
the wings dont make you fly and the crown don't make you king
